Abstract

Oil palm stem rot disease caused by infection of Ganoderma sp. This disease becomes a dangerous disease in oil plam plantation that can reduce productivity and causes plants to vanish. The purpose of this research is to compare the level of the stem rot disease at various ages of oil palm plants with varying severity attack. This research was conducted in Tanjung Beringin Plantation by taking data on the severity of Ganoderma sp. attack at various stages of oil palm development (young, youth, and adult plants). The results showed the attack rate of Ganoderma sp. higher in older plants than young plants. Based on the severity attack of Ganoderma sp., younger plants also have lower attack severity than older plants. It caused by the spread of stem rot disease, due to contact between healthy plant roots and diseased plants. Diseased plant roots will be a source of inoculum in the soil. Over time, the source of inoculum in the soil also increases, so the older plants have a higher risk of suffering stem rot disease.
