Abstract

The dynamics of paddy fields and changes from conventional systems to organic causes soil chemical changes that may affect the plow pan layer. The purpose of this study was to determine changes in the content of Fe and Mn in organic farming and plow pan layers. Nine profiles representing three systems of rice cultivation (conventional, semi-organic and organic) were analyzed to determine the dissolved Fe and Mn content, and the content of Fe, Mn and Al using three selective solvents (DCB, oxalate, and pyrophosphate). The results showed there were differences in each layer due to the influence of the cultivation system and the plow pan layer. In the plow pan layer, there were accumulations of Fe and Mn which increased by 4.28% and 5.78% respectively. Fe and Mn bound by organic matter were recorded to increase by 4.74 times and 2.73 times on organic compared to conventional.
