PENGARUH BUDIDAYA PADI ORGANIK TERHADAP KOMPAKSI DAN TRANFORMASI LAPISAN TAPAK BAJAK
Abstract
The experiment was carried out to understand the impacts organic farming system on physical properties of plough pan layer. For this purpose, nine soil profiles from three locations in Sragen District, Central Java Province were analyzed. Nine profiles are representative three systems, i.e. conventional, semi-organic and organic paddy fields. The results showed that organic farming can attenuate the thickness of plough pan, recorded from 10-20 cm on conventional system become 4-7 cm on organic system. The bulk density and particle density at plough pan layer on the three treatments showed no significant differences, ranging between 1.5-1.6 and 2.2-2.23 g cm-3 respectively. From nine soil profiles, the formation of plough pan layer cause decrease in permeability of 89.71% compared to the above layer. In relation to soil physical properties, has not shown any effect of organic matter application to plough pan layer characteristics. But it shows the influence of hand tractor on soil physical properties. Utilization of hand tractor was cause of increasing soil penetration at plough pan layer on semi-organic farming. Soil penetration on the conventional, semi-organic and organic are 1.63, 1.86, and 1.61 kg cm-2 respectively.
