KAJIAN EDIBLE FILM DARI PELEPAH KELAPA SAWIT DAN EKSTRAK LABU KUNING
Abstract
The making of edible films made of NaCMC from oil palm stem to increase the existing potential of the oil palm industry. Research aims to obtain a comparison of the concentration of glycerol and the concentration of good pumpkin carotenoids. The experimental design used is a complete block draft. The first factor is the amount of glycerol consists of 10%; 20%,30% and the second factor is the number of carotenoid extracts comprising 1.0%; 0.25% 0.5%. Edible film produced the thickness of the film, the solubility of the film in water, the transmission rate of moisture, tensile strength, elongation. The results showed the amount of glycerol effect on the solubility of the film in water, the transmission rate of moisture, tensile strength, elongation. The amount of pumpkin extract does not affect the solubility of the film in water, the transmission rate of moisture, tensile strength, elongation. The best results based on the mechanical properties elongation is the addition of glycerol 30% with the result of film solubility 86.22%, water vapor transmission rate 0.25 g.mm/m2.hours, tensile strength 0.39 MPa and elongation 51.26%. While the addition of pumpkin extract is the amount of 0.1% yellow pumpkin extract with a yield of thickness of 0.05 mm, film solubility 82.49%, water vapor transmission rate 0.21 g.mm/m2.hours, tensile strength 0.26 MPa and elongation is 48.44%.
