Abstract

Inorganic fertilizers such as urea, KCL, TSP, NPK, ZA, etc. are widely used in agriculture. The use of such fertilizers was ineffective, because about 40-60% of the nutrients are wasted, especially nitrogen, which causes economic losses, soil structure damage, and contaminate ground and river water. This study describes the design of slow-release fertilizers production in form of granules with materials are urea and zeolite. This research aims to improve quality and value against conventional urea fertilizer that has been widely used. Current trends associated with energy costs, fertilizer prices, and scarcity of labor in agriculture will make this product as an attractive option, that allow significant reduction of fertilizer application and/or labor costs. The result of economic feasibility parameters as follow: POT 1.15 years; ROI 77.25%; BEP 56.87%; SDP 53.24%; and DCFRR 20.76%.  This business is sensitive to price of raw materials and selling price of the product.
